Luminol, also known as 3-aminobenzoylhydrazine, is a commonly used chemiluminescent reagent. At room temperature, it is a light yellow powder that is easily soluble in alkaline solutions. Its luminescence principle is based on redox reactions: under alkaline conditions, luminol is oxidized by oxidants such as hydrogen peroxide to generate excited 3-amino-phthalic acid. When the excited molecule falls back to the ground state, it releases blue purple visible light (with a maximum emission wavelength of about 425 nanometers). In this reaction, metal ions such as iron and copper (especially iron in hemoglobin) can catalyze and significantly enhance the luminescence intensity. Therefore, luminol is mainly used in forensic medicine to detect occult blood traces at crime scenes - even if the blood is diluted or cleaned, it can emit fluorescence; It is also used for immune detection and cell reactive oxygen species determination in biochemistry.

Luminol, also known as luminamine, photosensitizer, or luminol, is a universal luminescent chemical reagent that emits a noticeable blue light when mixed with appropriate oxidants. It is a white to light yellow crystal that is soluble in most Chemicalbook organic polar solvents, but insoluble in water.
