The Chinese full name of TOPS (CAS No. 40567-80-4) is N-ethyl-N - (3-sulfopropyl) -3-methylaniline sodium salt. It is a white to slightly brown powder belonging to the color reagent family. When used as a water-soluble reagent, it can be determined by enzymatic spectrophotometry for hydrogen peroxide. TOPS has been widely used due to its good water solubility, high sensitivity, and strong stability.

Product advantages

 

Tops has the characteristics of strong stability, high water solubility, and high detection sensitivity. In the presence of hydrogen peroxide and peroxidase, the color source TOPS forms very stable color dyes during the oxidation reaction with 4-aminoantipyrine or 3-methylbenzothiazole sulfone hydrazone (MBTH). It is widely used for diagnostic examinations and biochemical tests, mainly for the determination of uric acid and cholesterol colorimetry. When used as a water-soluble reagent, hydrogen peroxide can be determined using enzymatic photometry.

 

Application

 

TOPS for creatinine detection of renal function:

In the presence of peroxidase, hydrogen peroxide reacts with 4-aminoantipyrine (4-AAP) and TOPS (ESPMT) or HTIB to produce chromogenic products such as quinone imines. The color intensity can be measured by absorbance and is directly proportional to the concentration of creatinine.

TOPS is used for uric acid testing of renal function:

To detect uric acid, uricase catalyzes the complete oxidation of uric acid with oxygen and water to allantoin, carbon dioxide and hydrogen peroxide H2O2. H2O2 reacts with TOPS and 4-AAP under POD catalysis, and TOPS is oxidized into a color product. The absorbance is measured using a spectrophotometer, and the absorbance intensity is proportional to the uric acid content, thus conducting uric acid analysis.

TOPS is used for detecting free fatty acids in liver function:

The free fatty acids (NEFA) in serum samples react with ATP and CoA under the catalysis of acyl CoA synthase to produce acyl CoA (Acyl CoA), AMP, and phosphate (PPi). Acyl CoA is oxidized to enoyl CoA and hydrogen peroxide under the catalysis of acyl CoA oxidase. Finally, hydrogen peroxide reacts with 4-aminoantipyrine and TOPS under the catalysis of peroxidase to form a red quinone imine compound.
