Physical properties of HEPBS

The CAS number of HEPBS is 161308-36-7, and it is a white crystalline powder at 25 ºC. Its pKa value is 8.3, which is in line with the environment of cell growth. The HEPBS produced by our company is reagent grade, and its aqueous solution is slightly turbid. It needs to be prepared and used immediately. In practical applications, titrated with sodium hydroxide solution as a buffer, its UV absorbance is less than 0.1 in a 33% W/W sodium hydroxide solution

Chemical properties of HEPBS

The buffer capacity of HEPBS buffer is strong within the pH range of 7.6 to 9.0. However, it is greatly affected by temperature, so when using HEPBS as a buffer, the influence of biochemical reaction temperature should be considered. HEPBS is a facultative ionic compound with both positive and negative charges in its molecular structure. Its chemical structure contains piperazine ring, which is inactive in chemical property, does not affect the activity of enzymes, does not react with most metals to produce sediment, and does not change the activity coefficient of biochemical system. However, it can be oxidized by strong oxidants and reduced by strong reducing agents.
