DMAE-NHS is a solid powder, usually yellow in color, that dissolves well in dry organic solvents such as dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and dimethylformamide (DMF). It belongs to acridine ester compounds and has direct luminescence properties. Its direct luminescence mechanism is that under the action of excitation, the acridine ester DMAE-NHS molecule undergoes a transition from the excited state to the ground state, resulting in luminescence. This direct luminescence property makes it an excellent chemiluminescent reagent suitable for analyzing the presence and content of biomolecules.

Chemiluminescence immunoassay technology is a novel labeled immunoassay technique that combines chemiluminescence systems with immune reactions for detecting trace amounts of antigen antibodies. For example, DMAE-NHS with acridine ester can directly label antigen and antibody, and can also detect the level of thyroid hormone, the detection of tumor marker alpha fetoprotein, and the analysis of immunoglobulin and related compounds.
