Product Description
MES is a zwitterionic morpholine buffer suitable for pH ranges of 5.5-6.7, commonly used as a running buffer in cell culture media and electrophoresis. It is one of the Good's buffering agents and possesses all the characteristics and advantages of Good's buffering agents.

1. Prepare 800 mL of dH2O in a suitable container.
2. Add 97.62 grams of MES free acid to the dH2O solution.
3. The initial pH value of 0.5M MES solution is 3.23. For 1 L of 0.5M MES, 13.6 ml of 10N NaOH is required to adjust the pH to 6.0;
4. Add dH2O until the volume is 1L.
Storage: MES solution can be stored for several months at 2-8 ºC. It is recommended to use a 0.2 micron filter membrane for filtration and sterilization. (Substances containing sulfate ions are not easily sterilized at high temperatures) After high-temperature sterilization, MES will show a light yellow color. It is not clear what the light yellow degradation product is, but the pH will not change significantly.
As anion buffer, MES buffer is suitable for cation exchange chromatography and hydroxyapatite chromatography; It can be used for gel filtration chromatography; Can be used for cellulose phosphate column chromatography; Can be used for hydrophobic substance interaction chromatography; Can be used for SDS-PAGE; Can be used for fluorescence microscopy; Suitable as a non coordinating buffer in metal ion solutions; Due to the fact that MES buffer does not form free radicals, it is suitable for the study of redox processes; Because it will not be metabolized by bacteria and eukaryotic cell, MES buffer can be used to prepare culture media, such as low concentration plant cell culture media and mammalian cell culture media; Suitable for most toxin research; Used for in vitro dissolution test of liposomes; The interaction between MES buffer and the peptide skeleton of bovine serum albumin can enhance the stability of the protein
