The CAS number of HEPBS is 161308-36-7, and it is a white crystalline powder at 25 ºC. Its pKa value is 8.3, which is in line with the environment of cell growth. The HEPBS produced by our company is reagent grade, and its aqueous solution is slightly turbid. It needs to be prepared and used immediately. In practical applications, titrated with sodium hydroxide solution as a buffer, its UV absorbance is less than 0.1 in a 33% W/W sodium hydroxide solution.

Application

HEPBS is a member of the piperazine buffer family, which can coexist with cations in cell culture medium and provide the acidity environment required for cell growth. It is commonly used to stabilize the pH value of cell growth environment in cell culture medium. Due to its high pKa value and suitability for use on the skin, like EPPS, HEPBS can serve as a buffer in cosmetic raw materials to regulate the acidity and alkalinity of various components in cosmetics.

Product advantages

The buffer capacity of HEPBS buffer is strong within the pH range of 7.6 to 9.0. However, it is greatly affected by temperature, so when using HEPBS as a buffer, the influence of biochemical reaction temperature should be considered. HEPBS is a facultative ionic compound with both positive and negative charges in its molecular structure. Its chemical structure contains a piperazine ring, which is inactive and does not affect enzyme activity. It does not react with most metals to produce precipitates or change the activity coefficient of the biochemical system. However, it can be oxidized by strong oxidants or reduced by strong reducing agents.
