The N-terminal of its subunit has a conserved serine/tyrosine (Ser/Tyr) residue, and its hydroxyl group forms a hydrogen bond with the thiol group of glutathione (GSH), which is a specific binding site for GSH.

GST is a group of multifunctional isoenzymes widely distributed in various organisms. It is a group of enzymes related to the detoxification function of the liver, mainly present in the liver, and in trace amounts in tissues such as the kidneys, small intestine, testes, ovaries, etc. Its main function is to catalyze the coupling of electrophilic groups of certain endogenous or foreign harmful substances with the thiol group of reduced glutathione, increasing its hydrophobicity and making it easy to cross cell membranes, And after being decomposed, it is discharged from the body to achieve the purpose of detoxification.
