BICINE buffer is an organic compound suitable for pH ranges of 7.6-9.0, with a pka value of 8.3 at 25 ºC. It is prepared by reacting glycine with ethylene oxide and then hydrolyzing to produce lactones. It has the same advantages as its Good's buffer, such as good powder water solubility, no toxicity to cell membranes, low cell membrane permeability, stable chemical properties, and low absorption of ultraviolet and visible light.
